Privacy Policy
Effective 23 September 2026 · App version 0.1.0+
The short version: your trips, expenses,
receipts and financial records are stored on your device and, if you enable
iCloud, in your own personal iCloud. We operate no servers that store your
data, we run no analytics, and we show no advertising. We cannot read your records.
1. What data the app handles

2. Location data — the important one
- When it is collected: only while a trip is being recorded.
Recording starts when you tap "Start Shift", or when you have opted in to
auto-tracking and a trigger fires (your paired Bluetooth beacon, automotive
motion detection, leaving a saved place). It stops when the trip ends.
- Where it goes: nowhere. Location is stored in your trip
record on your device / your iCloud. It is not uploaded to us, not used for
advertising, not used for analytics, and not shared with any third party.
- Your control: recording status is always visible on the
dashboard and your lock screen; any recording can be stopped with one tap.
You can revoke location permission at any time in iOS Settings — the app
will continue to work with manually entered trips.
3. iCloud / CloudKit
If you enable iCloud sync, your records sync through Apple's CloudKit service
inside your own private iCloud database. Apple processes that data
under its own privacy terms; the developer cannot view it. If iCloud is disabled,
all data stays on your device only.
4. What we do NOT do
- We do not collect, transmit, sell, rent, or share your personal data. Ever.
- We do not include advertising or analytics SDKs. The app contains zero
third-party code libraries.
- We do not require an account. Core features work without any sign-in.
- We do not track you across apps or websites. No advertising identifier is read.
- We do not access your contacts, photos (beyond receipts you explicitly
attach), microphone, or camera except when you initiate receipt capture.
5. Payments and subscriptions
The Pro subscription is processed entirely by Apple through the App Store.
We never see your payment details. We receive only an entitlement signal from
Apple (active / not active) to unlock features. You can manage or cancel in
Settings → Apple Account → Subscriptions.
6. Children
ShiftClaim is a business/finance tool for working drivers. It is not directed
at children and is rated 4+ because it contains no restricted content, not because
it is intended for children.
7. Data retention and deletion
- Your data persists until you delete it (per-record deletion is available in
each list view) or delete the app.
- Deleting the app removes locally stored data. iCloud data can be removed via
iOS Settings → Apple Account → iCloud → Manage Storage, or by turning off iCloud
for the app.
- We keep no independent copy, so there is nothing further to request from us.
8. Security
- On-device data is protected by iOS sandboxing and your device encryption.
- iCloud data is encrypted by Apple in transit and at rest under Apple's
security architecture.
- Exported files (CSV/XLSX/PDF) are created on your device and shared only
through the iOS share sheet to destinations you choose.
9. Your rights (Australian Privacy Principles)
Because we hold no data about you, most APP rights (access, correction,
complaints about our holding of data) have no practical target — but they still
apply to anything you email us (e.g. support requests). You may:
- Request a copy of any personal information we actually hold about you
(expected: your contact details from a support email, nothing else);
- Ask us to correct or delete it;
- Complain about a breach of the APPs by contacting us (below) — we will
respond within 30 days; you may also escalate to the Office of the Australian
Information Commissioner (oaic.gov.au).
10. Changes to this policy
We will update this policy in the app and on this page when features change how
data is handled. Material changes will be flagged in release notes.
